Help please - is your grit bin empty?
One of the slightly odd habits you pick up as a councillor is checking grit bins as you walk around... It's that time of year when we need to make sure everyone's grit bins are ready for the winter. If you have one near you, can you try and check it for us and let us know if it needs refilling? You can just reply to this email. Thank you!

Latest Lawnswood update
Here's the latest update. It's great the contracts are openly sharing any challenges. If these lead to any slip or change to the timetable we'll be sure to let you know, but so far that isn't the case! "Last week we continued work on the manhole installations in the roundabout centre. Manhole 6 is installed up to the concrete lid, with brickwork to be installed. Further oversized pipework excavations are taking place, along with installation of foundations. Ducting excavation

Amazing events at the Welcome In
We're so lucky to have this great community centre and cafe in our ward at 55 Bedford Drive. We have many surgeries and community meetings there. And we're pleased to share some events they have planned for the public. On the 20th of November first up, 'Inn and Out at the Top with Neil Hanson' which promises to be a hilarious talk about life in Britain's highest inn back in the 1970s and 80s - an appropriate topic to be hosted by former pub the Welcome In! And then on the 26t

Latest Lawnswood & speeding update
Here's the latest update from Eric Wright, the contractors working on Lawnswood roundabout. As usual, if you're experiencing problems let us know. Also, we have raised concerns about speeding in some neighbouring roads - you may see the rubber encased wires across roads monitoring traffic and speed levels: "Last week we completed the surfacing works around the roundabout centre. Yorkshire Water have inspected the manhole, this is progressing well. Our sub-contractors Civcon h

Info on the ginnel closure from Woodhouse Ridge to Cumberland Road
This is not in our ward but is very well used by lots of Weetwood residents so we thought we'd share the latest. For those who don't know; there's an excellent route from Woodhouse Ridge to Hyde Park corner that saves walkers a lot of time. However, the segment from the ridge to Cumberland Road is currently blocked. That's because the wall has become unsafe. The wall is privately owned and the owners are trying to solve this as soon as they can. We can't give more specific ti

For the first time the Santa Dash is coming to Headingley. The 3k run ties into the Kevin Sinfield 7 in 7 challenge. It starts at Leeds Beckett University and finishes at the stadium. It's an Otley Run heavy newsletter today. Sorry about that! The Golden Beam (Wetherspoons) have applied for a change to their licence, to enable them to have Otley Runners. We have found regular updates from the team doing Lawnswood roundabout to be very useful, so we asked the Highways team to do the same for the broader A660 work from Shaw Lane down to St Marks Road.
