Otley Run
We've helped arrange for additional anti-social behaviour officers every Saturday afternoon for the next few months to tackle unacceptable behaviour such as public urination.
More news on our work to tackle the Otley Run coming soon.
Ireland Wood, Cookridge, Lawnswood
As you probably know, we hold regular meetings with our neighbourhood police team and residents.
Last night was the meeting for north of the ring road in Weetwood ward. Tonight is the meeting for south of the ring road (West Park, Far Headingley, Meanwood area). It'll be at St Chad's Parish Centre, 7-8pm.
We've shared the notes below from last nights meeting below but the big takeaway is please ring 101 if you see dangerous, criminal, or anti social behaviour. This especially includes dangerous electric bike riding. Doing this will bring more resources into our area, including targeted operations. It's worth doing, we promise.
Notes:
Next meeting will be: Tuesday 7th April, 7-8pm at Welcome In Community Centre (same as tonight)
STATS:
- Three burglaries: Otley Old Road, Hillcrest Mount (vehicle stolen), Haven Chase
- Business burglary at Alexander’s Deli, bike stolen
- Shed burglary Tinshill View, same suspect (CCTV match) as Alexander’s and has been arrested for both
- Stolen black bin - we got that one replaced free!
- Attempted shed and garage burglary Eaton Hill
- X3 theft motor vehicles: tinshill Mount, Woodnook Garth, Iveson approach
- X3 theft from motors: Iveson Road, Green, and Luttrell Crescent
- One robbery on Tinshill Lane near the Paddy shop
- 1 interference with vehicle
- 0 criminal damage
PACT priority last month was Spen Lane after a couple of serious incidents there. We’ve arranged for some home security advice there. Let us know if this would be helpful to you, and the PCSO Reuben did a great street surgery there too.
Lots of other work going on from the local police! From school street parking enforcement to operations with taxi licensing.
ISSUES RAISED:
- The big topic: Ireland Wood and Silk Mill and Cookridge area dangerous bike riding. Please please please ring 101 if you see this - the more reports we get the more time we’ll have of the off road bike team. For example, they’ve been doing enforcement on West Park Fields thanks to reports from local residents. Almost every time we do a street surgery at the moment we’re encouraging people to report this dangerous behaviour on 101, it’s the only way to tackle it
- raised a number of local roads where speeding is a problem for more enforcement to happen, such as Spen Lane and Tinshill Lane
- glass on Otley Old Road from over turned car - we’re taking this up
- Also drug dealing in the area of Iveson Approach for example
- Tinshill Lane speed indicator device doesn’t seem to be working
