Updated: Feb 25

Some people have asked us when the works on the A660 by the Arndale Centre and further down onto Headingley Lane will be done.

Here's the latest we've had on that:

"I can confirm that we are still scheduled for a Spring 2026 finish (in regard to Sections 1, 2 and 5 of the works) and the current programme has the contractor completing all works at the start of April. Please note that this is a projected finish date, and unforeseen complications (such as ground conditions, weather etc.) may delay completion."

This is on track.

We'll update as soon as we can on improved designs for the bus stop / cycle lane crossings as well - this is another issue we've been taking up for you.

And in the meantime here's the latest progress update from the council:

"Section One/Two:

• Works continuing overnight opposite Headingley Central (Arndale Centre) with new bus stop area and Dutch Entrance kerbs now in place

• Final phases of work are continuing at the junction of the A660/North Lane and Wood Lane to improve the junction

• Resurfacing (including at Copenhagen Crossings) is booked for the end of March 2026 and will be one of the final tasks to be undertaken

• Road markings are to follow surfacing to complete scheme.

•Red route signing and lining has been installed on site in many locations and is now in operation.

Section Five:

• All resurfacing and road markings now completed.

• Planting will take place in late March 2026, to ensure the health and longevity of the greenery.

• Traffic signals are in the process of being commissioned, and will be operational in March

• Red route signing and lining has been installed throughout this section, and is now in operation.
