Tackling illegal off road vehicles
In this newsletter and other channels we have often encouraged people to report dangerous and illegal use of off road vehicles to the police on 101 - the more reports the more time we get from the off road policing team. We need other solutions too. Locally our plans on that that include possible safeguards in parks to stop certain vehicles accessing, and more for young people to do which would help with a fraction of the users of the illegal vehicles. But we really do need n

Postal vote deadline coming up
The election this year is on Thursday 7th May. If you're away or you are likely to have caring commitments then you can easily apply online for a postal vote online . The deadline to apply is Tuesday 21st April. It's well worth doing - you can still bring it to the polling station on the day, so it gives you a bit of flexibility. We like to vote in person, but postal votes are an important option for people who have caring or work commitments that mean they'll be away on elec

How we'll get better buses
The 38, 19, 91, 23, 24, X84, 28... chances are you sometimes rely on one or more of these services. We've been lobbying FirstBus about improvements to these services, sharing people's experiences with them and asking about their plans to improve reliability. But the real game changer will be next year, when Mayor Tracy Brabin brings them into public control. It'll give us a proper transport system like London and now Manchester has: Reliability targets for operators , meaning

Where do we need safer crossings?
Making things safer for pedestrians is a top priority for us. We have delivered new pedestrian crossings and are getting assessments for new crossings at key points in the ward, including on Otley Old Road, Grove Lane, Monkbridge Road, Meanwood Road, Spen Road, and Tinshill Road. Building on this, we've pledged to make sure that every busy road children have to cross for school has a safe crossing point. It's always incredibly useful when people tell us about their journeys a

A few guidelines on bringing stuff to be repaired: 1. Wash clothes if possible before bringing. No pants! 2. Latest on Lawnswood
The latest weekly update on Lawnswood roundabout below, plus a couple of pics - one aerial of the work on site, and one a simplified 'landscaping drawing' showing where there will be planting once it's done - including a large London Plane tree in the centre of the roundabout. This drawing is designed specifically to show planting, rather than e.g. the pedestrian crossing arrangements. P.s. it was great to attend the West Park Residents Association AGM last night where a long

New litter bin locations
The best way to prevent litter at 'hotspots' is to have an easily available bin. You always get some people who don't bother, but most will. We have 30 new dog and litter bins coming to Weetwood . Thanks so much to everyone who has contacted us with ideas for locations. This is the first batch, there are more to come so don't panic if a key location is missing!! But do let us know if you're especially keen on a location. View the map here This is a fantastic initiative from t
