We've been chasing this one for a while! We've now had confirmation that the broken wall on Meanwood Road is to be fixed on the week commencing 26th January.

We've been told there will be essential road resurfacing works on Spen Lane , West Park at its junction with Butcher Hill, evening works only planned to start on 16 th February for 3 days.   The layout of this junction and traffic movements means the council has no alternative but to close both these roads at the mini roundabout to carry out works safely and efficiently.   To keep disruption to a minimum these works will be carried out in the evenings between 19:00 – 00:00

You may have noticed some tree removal works going on prior to the break, on the A6120. On one of our weekly street surgeries we noticed that the Darnley Road sign (fun fact, JRR Tolkien of Hobbit and Lord of the Rings fame used to live on Darnley Road) was looking worse for wear, and a couple of our local residents agreed. Whenever we see litter or flytipping we report it. Here's a picture of particularly anti-social fly tipping from by Meanwood Community Centre. We're working with the council to crack down on litter across the ward. It's just depressing and it's bad for the environment. If you spot any please report it online here . Last year we asked for your help identifying grit bins that needed re-filling , thank you to everyone that reported them. It will have paid off given the weather we're starting 2026 with.
