Last week the big red 'McDonalds' sign was removed from Yorkshire Water property on Otley Road, following our planning complaint. We admit it's not the biggest or worst crime, and only a tiny part of what we've worked on this week, but we're sharing it here because quite a lot of people had emailed us about it, and to let you know that we're always happy to take up this kind of thing! We also got Yorkshire Water to cut back the hedges on Otley Road by the treatment works.

A reminder that there is a Meanwood Beck flooding engagement event tomorrow, 4-6pm (drop in) at The Meanwood Institute. The Cardigan Community Centre is running Youth sessions in our area, including at West Park United Reformed Church, LS16 5BD on Wednesdays from 5pm - 6.30pm, for young people aged 11- 17. Tomorrow we're expecting a big update on Labour Mayor Tracy Brabin's plans to bring West Yorkshire buses into public control (you can read more here ). In the meantime, we're really pleased that disabled pass holders across West Yorkshire will soon be able to travel for free at any time of day. A bit of a collected item! Firstly, Weetwood Lane (by Weetwood Court) is partly closed for urgent Yorkshire Water works as we wrote last week . That's annoying but we're glad that YW have finally taken responsibility for it after we lobbied them with residents for some weeks. However, the diversions have not been clear or widespread enough and so Weetwood Court residents have had quite a bit of speeding to deal with. We've asked them to increase signage at more key locations.

Do you live near Clayton Wood? It's the wood between Silk Mill Way and the Ring Road. It's beautiful. Well used by dog walkers, there are fascinating ancient remains there, and generally a lovely place to get out and enjoy nature. We've been doing some surveying with archaeologists and we're working with locals to organise litter picks and other ways to celebrate this hidden treasure. Interested? Connecting Leeds recently sent a Meanwood project update letter to households in the Grove Lane / Monk Bridges area with several proposals for consultation, including the new pedestrian crossing on Grove Lane which we campaigned for.
