Road resurfacing update

Over the last few months we've been keeping you updated about road resurfacing, collecting texts and emails to tell us about bad potholes, and getting them reported as well as pushing key roads up the priority list.

It's an ongoing job but we've made a lot of progress.

We've also made a point of speaking directly to the frontline teams, asking them what they think would help to improve road quality and prevent costs.

In February we passed a budget at the council level which invested an additional £14m into road repair, an almost 100% increase. We were able to do this because for the first time this year our support from central government has increased, not decreased.

That additional investment is highly targeted at longer-lasting road repairs, so it should save money in the long run.

That has led to full road resurfacing starting on particularly bad roads in West Park, much more effective partial road resurfacing on Spennithorne Drive - see our video, alongside the usual surface dressing designed to help roads last longer before needing repairs and patching on particularly bad potholes we've pushed for including Silk Mill Way and Cottage Road.

We're still chasing for proper repairs on some key roads, especially in the Cookridge and Ireland Wood area. We'll keep on it and keep learning from the frontline teams!

Tell us where we can help.
