Lawnswood roundabout update

We have just received this, so sharing the statement from the Lawnswood project partners in full for info in time for today's newsletter:

"Work on the Lawnswood roundabout improvement scheme is now at an advanced stage, with the majority of construction work complete and significant improvements already visible across the junction.

The final surfacing works were unable to be completed as planned due to a combination of wet weather conditions and issues affecting the supply of materials required for the works.

We are currently reviewing the programme and coordinating with other planned works in the area before confirming a revised date for the surfacing works. A further update will be provided once arrangements have been finalised.

In the meantime, additional line marking works will be undertaken under lane closures where necessary.

There are also several important elements of the scheme still to be delivered, including the installation and commissioning of the new traffic signals, which are expected to become operational by mid-October.

Landscaping works will continue throughout the autumn, with tree planting planned for November.

Once complete, the scheme will provide lasting improvements to safety and connectivity for people walking, wheeling, cycling, using public transport and travelling through the junction, helping to support more reliable journeys and a better-connected local transport network."
