A bit of a collected item!
Firstly, Weetwood Lane (by Weetwood Court) is partly closed for urgent Yorkshire Water works as we wrote last week. That's annoying but we're glad that YW have finally taken responsibility for it after we lobbied them with residents for some weeks. However, the diversions have not been clear or widespread enough and so Weetwood Court residents have had quite a bit of speeding to deal with. We've asked them to increase signage at more key locations. The work should be done by the end of Friday, but they can't guarantee that. We'll keep you informed.
The Ring Road going towards Lawnswood roundabout from Weetwood has had a 30mph limit on it as a safety measure for people doing works. However, it is being routinely ignored. In response to questions about this the Highways team asked contractors to up it to 40mph for most of that stretch, this will happen Thursday night.
And here's the latest update from the Lawnswood roundabout team:
"In area 2 (roundabout centre) all of the kerbing is now installed, together with the paving and service strip which allows for maintenance of the area. The rain garden channel is prepared and installed.
In area 1 (outside Weetwood Hall) Yorkshire Water are continuing their work. Although they have hits snags in this area they are progressing well with the diversion pipework.
In area 9 on the southbound leg of the A660 Otley Road, works continue and we hope the barriers are helping pedestrians to cross safely.
Yorkshire Water have completed their night works. Thank you for your patience during the works.
Upcoming works
Next weekend (7th / 8th March) we may be continuing with lining works at the roundabout. These will be carried out overnight to minimise disruption.
Temporary Traffic Regulation Order
On the A6120 Ring Road the speed limit was reduced to 30mph recently. This was due to other works in the area which carried a reduction to 30mph, and due to the need for coordination between the two temporary orders, the one relating to the Lawnswood roundabout scheme also had to be reduced for safety reasons. This will be revised to 40mph imminently.
