Protecting Silk Mill / Clayton / Spring / Ireland Woods

As you may know, we recently worked with local archaeology experts to organise an Archaeology Walk in Clayton / Silk Mill woods. We were very surprised to discover that there are actually very clear Iron Age walls and building outlines there to be walked over whenever you like.
Very cool!
As one resident said, "On top of learning about two thousand years of history beneath our feet we enjoyed just being in the lovely woods with good company."
A few of us would like to explore setting up a local 'Friends of' group. It would likely have a few aims, outlined below. Can you help? Just add your name to the interested list.
Why set up a 'Friends of' group?
We can use the group to apply for funding to survey the woods for more archaeology and decide whether, for example, a local excavation would be worth it. Maybe the group could even be the start of more talks and local walks about local history?
We can be ambassadors for these beautiful woods, working with local residents, police, and others to keep them for local people
We can help organise litter picks and other environmental improvements
If it sounds of interest just add your name to the interested list.
