We get reports on local crimes every few weeks. The latest shows again that the majority of local crime is theft of or from vehicles.
We've previously shared information about preventing car crime, please take a look here.
Last night we attended the police and community meeting for Cookridge and Ireland Wood, and tonight (from 7pm) we'll be at St Chad's Parish Centre to talk local crime with residents and police relating to West Park, Far Headingley, and Meanwood.
Please do join this evening. The next meetings will be:
Tuesday 19th August, 7-8pm at the Welcome In Community Centre (55 Bedford Drive)
Wednesday 20th August, 7-8pm at St Chad's Parish Centre (Otley Road)
They're a really good opportunity to chat to your local coppers and set priorities. Everyone who attends seems to find them useful!
Otley Run
We objected to and attended the Licensing hearing for the Taylors Sports Bar application, which seeks to allow them to use their upstairs area to sit customers on a permanent basis. We don't yet have confirmation of the result but will share it when we get it.
Our big priorities now are:
Working with our local MP Alex Sobel, we've got voluntary agreement from some premises to put money into managing the Otley Run. We're now working with the police on what this 'bill' should look like and will seek to get the premises to help pay for the costs
Pursuing licence reviews against premises who are not managing the Otley Run well, imposing extra conditions on them at a minimum
Increasing fines for anti social behaviour
