If you have an electric car but live in one of the many terrace properties without a drive then you may be paying quite a bit more to charge your car. We've been lobbying for a simple solution here, and now the council is piloting one:
"On 5 December 2025 we launched a 12-month pilot allowing the installation of a cross-footway cable channel that is recessed into the footway. Kerbo Charge is our approved partner for this pilot.
You can now apply for a cross-footway EV charging channel that allows you to charge your car safely at home, using your own power supply."
Crucially we wanted a solution that doesn't impede the footway. This is harder than it sounds - there are all sorts of things going on under pavements including crucial services! The piloted approach is recessed into the pavement and is the only current approved way to connect your vehicle to your home for charging.
