We're out regularly doing street surgeries. Maybe the most common issue raised is speeding. We lobby about this A LOT! Both the police and Highways.

One of the tools available to us is mobile speed cameras. We've just had confirmation through of the latest placements we've secured:

  • Tinshill Lane

  • Wynford Avenue

  • Spennithorne Drive

We've previously had them on other roads. The way they work is that a speed camera is placed on the road for a temporary period, and then brought back a couple of times. Usually this makes a real impact on speed levels on that road over quite a period. People believe they have a higher risk of being fined, and regulars are made more aware of the speed limits.

This is a finite resource so we can't get them on every road all the time - we have to make a case based on volume, speeds and special factors. And some roads in other parts of the city will always be a higher priority. But if you'd like your road to be considered for this do let us know and we'll do what we can!
