In case you're not aware we thought it was important to share this guide on what the hosepipe restrictions mean, starting from 11th July.
The hosepipe restrictions require households and organisations (unless directly essential for business purposes, e.g. a car wash) not to use a hosepipe for activities such as:
- Watering a garden using a hosepipe
- Cleaning vehicles or boats using a hosepipe
- Watering plants with a hosepipe
- Filling or maintaining a domestic swimming, paddling pool, hot tub or cold-water plunge pool
- Using a hosepipe for domestic recreational use
- Cleaning walls or windows of domestic premises using a hosepipe
- Cleaning paths or patios using a hosepipe
- Cleaning other artificial outdoor surfaces using a hosepipe
Businesses will be allowed to use a hosepipe if it is directly related to a commercial purpose. There are restrictions on using a hosepipe if not for those essential commercial needs. For example, using a hosepipe to clean a path outside a business property would not be allowed.
Yorkshire Water customers on their Priority Services Register or WaterSure tariff for medical reasons, are excluded from the restrictions, and they will be contacted directly to ensure they are aware of this.
