Over the last few years we've done a lot of work with school uniform exchange projects. They save parents money and help the environment by recycling good as new school uniform items. All of this relies on hard work freely given by organisations like Meanwood Community Centre (thanks Rachel and co!) and Sara Brown's LS16 School Uniform Exchange.
At these events we tally what has been given out.
Zero Waste Leeds have shared their study of these tallies. Here is some of the information which gives you an idea of how much of a difference it makes.
Over the summer, Sara's LS16 events handed out 1,186 items to 217 families.
And across Leeds this year Zero Waste Leeds estimates:
£384,982 saved for local families
4,529 kg of waste saved
3,591 families helped
We will keep working with community organisations locally as well as groups across the city to build and build on this amazing work.
Thank you everyone!
