We often help with the local school uniform exchange, for example at Tinshill BREEZE event in August, and every time people mention how helpful it would be if school uniform was more standardised - making it easier and cheaper to recycle or buy new. We've raised this before with our MP.

So we're really pleased that from September 2026 schools in England will only be allowed to ask parents to buy three branded uniform items.

This is part of a wider package of support for families including 30 hours of free childcare and free breakfast clubs in primary schools.
