We had a very helpful Police and Communities Together (PACT) meeting at the Welcome In on Tuesday. We covered crime and policing in the north of the Ring Road bit of Weetwood ward.
Ahead of the meeting we were already working with police on a number of these issues, including tackling prolific graffiti tagging. We've picked up a good bit of casework since!
There's another of these meetings tonight (Weds) from 7 at St Chad's Parish Centre - covering south of the Ring Road.
These are our notes from the meeting:
Weetwood Councillors, police, and 15 residents attended.
Stats:
4 theft of motor vehicles
8 from motor vehicles - mostly insecure vehicles, quick easy grabs
No robberies
6 burglaries
Recent activity:
Lots of work with DVLA going for untaxed and uninsured, seized six cars in the Ivesons. Some associated with drug dealing. Speeding and patrol work too.
Key issues discussed:
Dangerous behaviour by a dog owner. PLEASE report any incidents of this.
Graffiti tagging from a particular prolific tagger - we have been getting these cleaned, please do tell us about it
Speeding and dangerous driving on Iveson Rise
Planning school parking action days for the new school year
People on electric bikes and quad bikes, riding dangerously and riding across the playing fields as well. More work in the area with the off road bike team planned.
Speeding on Otley Old Road slip road
Speeding on Ivesons and Tinshill Lane (we’re getting speeding review done here)
Parking checks
Separately - tackling graffiti and dangerous behaviour with dog
