Dangerous bike users

A common question we're asked is what we can do about dangerous bike riders.
Especially people using souped up electric bikes.
Police will seize electric bikes if they have a motor bigger than 250w. These are very different to the pedal-assist electric bikes giving people a little boost up the hills!
And the new Labour government is bringing in a policy of destroying these vehicles once seized - getting them off the road forever. Until now the police have had to re-sell them.
If you spot these or any dangerous behaviour on bikes please report it to West Yorkshire Police on 101 or online, or to do it anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
They may not catch them in the act but the police in Leeds have an off road bikes team who use special motorbikes to catch them and the more reports in your area the more likely that this team can be deployed there.
We've already asked for them to be deployed in some key areas but we need as many reports as possible to justify it. You can also email us and we can feed it in to the local neighbourhood police.
