On Saturday morning, 30 May, Jools attended the final match of the Under-9 Girls’ football season between Weetwood Blaze and Scotton Scorchers.
Played in warm and sunny conditions that lived up to the names of both teams, the match was closely contested, with both sides showing great determination and commitment throughout. Despite several chances at either end, the deadlock remained unbroken until the second half, when Scotton Scorchers took the lead.
Weetwood Blaze responded impressively, drawing level shortly afterwards to make it 1–1 and set up an exciting finish. Buoyed by the equaliser, the home side continued to press forward and, within minutes of the restart, scored a second goal. That strike ultimately proved decisive, as Weetwood Blaze held on to secure a hard-fought 2–1 victory.
The match provided a fitting conclusion to the season, with both teams demonstrating excellent teamwork and enthusiasm throughout.
