Lawnswood weekly update
Here's the latest including timelines. An issue has been identified with underground cabling, we've been pressing for updates so that local residents are the first to know, but investigations continue so we don't have clear information to share on it yet:
"Works are continuing across multiple areas of the site as we move towards completion of the scheme.
Telent are busy completing the installation of the traffic signal poles, signal heads and switches, pedestrian, cyclist and vehicle detection and cabling them all together into the main communication system which will ensure they work in synchronisation across the roundabout and joining carriageways. The system is due to be commissioned and operational within the next fortnight.
At the roundabout centre, the rain garden area is soiled up and ready for planting. The other landscaping areas of the roundabout will be made ready this coming week, then the landscaping team will start planting bulbs, shrubs and laying grass seed. The centrepiece tree is still at the nursery and will be transferred here once it reaches dormancy.
BT have completed their works so were are continuing with kerbing works, ready for final footway surfacing in various site locations.
The bus shelter is due to be installed mid November.
Unfortunately, an issue has been identified with an underground electricity cable in the area.
We are working closely with the council and Northern Powergrid to assess the situation and agree the best way forward, while doing everything we can to minimise disruption for local residents and road users. This may require some additional work on the A660 southbound approach. Thank you for your continued patience and support while we work through this issue. We will keep you updated as soon as we know more."
