As the Otley Run has grown there has been an increase in incidents of public urination, groups blocking the pavement, and other types of anti-social behaviour.

The problem was that the police were not able to enforce against these problems. Even public urination required several officers to spend multiple hours taking the offender to the police station and processing the case, meaning in practice it wasn't a good use of resources to enforce against it.

So we campaigned for change. Using evidence provided to us by residents, we were able to make the case for a change in the local 'Public Space Protection Order', giving police and council officers the power to fine people for these behaviours and even move them out of the area.

Now we've achieved this legal change, having persuaded council officers and solicitors it was the right thing to do, for the first time it is possible for us to tackle this bad behaviour.
